The tense situation had arisen subsequent to the pro-sely-tisation of an individual named Damith Pushpakumara, a resident of Batakaththara - Piliyandala by an evangelist group.

Mentor of the Bodhu Bala Sena Organisation Venerable Kirama Vimalajothi Thero expressed the following views to our news team in this regard.
However issuing a release the Police Headquarters today stated that the police had received a complaint regarding the abduction of 7 individuals in the Batakaththara area today.
The release goes onto note that a prayer service had been held at the residence of the individual in dispute Damith Pushpakuma & his spouse Amali Harshani.
According to the release the service had been led by several associates of the couple.
he parents of the male who had previously been against the marriage of their son to his spouse had during the time of the prayer service arrived in a van and seized the couple, including 7 other males who had been at the residence at the time and handed over to the Dehiwala police.
Upon the groups surrender the parents of the individual had also been placed under arrest by police, who had treated the incident as abduction.
However the complaint which had been lodged by the seized couple was subsequently withdrawn.
According to Police Media Spokesperson SSP Prishantha Jayakodi if a complaint has been lodged against the Bodu Bala Sena such a complaint would be subject to investigation while the law would also be implemented against any religious faction found guilty of forced persuasion.
Meanwhile the group of individuals handed over to the custody of the Dehiwala police includes a 27 year old evangelist pastor who has been identified as Dinesh Kumara.
